Bharati Shah, an Ahmedabad-based senior artist, is set to bring her oeuvre of distinctive abstract paintings to Mumbai’s prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery for a solo exhibition from September 5-11, 2022. Shah is a self-taught painter with more than 20 years of art practice and many group and solo art exhibitions under her belt. With bright and even fluorescent colours on her palette, she concentrates on cubism in her art, where she fragmentizes her canvasses and brings out the two-dimensionality of the surface. There is another element, however, that viewers will find in all of Shah’s paintings. “I cannot complete a painting without a circle, it is my muse and represents celestial bodies such as the moon, sun or earth,” says the artist. A lifelong learner with an unwavering commitment to renew her work, Shah also experiments with several mediums, such as oil, watercolour, acrylic, digital, glass, and wood.
